Our Proud Heritage Moment

Did you know the roar of the crowd started with a quiet putt? In 1929, the idea for Hockey Night in Canada was born right here at Orchard Beach.

While golfing on the sixth hole, the owner of the Toronto hockey team and ad executive Jack McLaren shook hands on a revolutionary idea: bringing hockey to the entire nation via radio. Today, we take pride in being the scenic backdrop for the launch of the longest-running sports program in history.
