A Stanley Thompson Design
Orchard Beach Golf and Country Club stands as a living testament to the genius of Stanley Thompson, Canada’s most celebrated golf course architect. Renowned for his artistic ability to work in harmony with the land, Thompson’s portfolio includes national treasures like Banff Springs and Jasper Park Lodge. Established in 1926, Orchard Beach reflects his hallmark philosophy by seamlessly integrating the gently rolling terrain and mature orchards of the Lake Simcoe shoreline into the field of play.
The compact nine-hole layout is a masterclass in strategic variety, offering everything from the dramatic elevated tee at the fourth to the challenging, sweeping dogleg of the seventh. A century since its inception, the course remains a beautifully preserved example of Thompson’s vision, continuing to challenge and delight golfers of all skill levels with its timeless charm and natural elegance.

Our Proud Heritage
Did you know the roar of the crowd started with a quiet putt? In 1929, the idea for Hockey Night in Canada was born right here at Orchard Beach.
While golfing on the sixth hole, the owner of the Toronto hockey team and ad executive Jack McLaren shook hands on a revolutionary idea: bringing hockey to the entire nation via radio. Today, we take pride in being the scenic backdrop for the launch of the longest-running sports program in history.
Play the sixth and walk the fairways where Canadian sports history was made.
